~*~ A Tribute To Gene Clark &
The Byrds ~*~
"Buddy Woodward (ex the Ghost Rockets) has been working on the mini
Gene- Byrds Fest to celebrate the release of the Not Lame Tribute
and also to celebrate the Sony/Legacy's release of ALL the Columbia
Byrds albums on CD.
So it will be The date is FRIDAY, MAY 26th, at the famous BOTTOM
LINE in NYC. So far the confirmed Special Guest Stars are:
JOHN JORGENSON (Hellecasters, Desert Rose Band),
DENNIS DIKEN (Smithereens),
BEKI BRINDLE (Rick Danko, Jerry Lee Lewis, Gene Clark),
bluegrass fiddle legend KENNY KOSEK,
GEORGE USHER,
THE GRIPWEEDS,
THE DEMOLITION STRING BAND.
..and other surprise guests *yet to be announced*.
A special bluegrass mini-set in the middle of the show will feature
Buddy Woodward, John Jorgenson, Barry Mitterhoff & Danny Weiss
(from Skyline), Mike Levine and Kenny Kosek.
The Bottom Line does two shows a night, one starting at 7pm, &
the second starting at 10pm. The backup band will be lead by Buddy
on 6 & 12-string guitars, banjo, mandolin, & will also include
bassist Peter Stuart (Headless Horsemen), guitarist Danny Weiss
(Tony Trischka's Skyline), Kurt & Rick Reil of The Grip Weeds
switching off on rhythm guitar & drums with added appearances
by Jon Graboff (Beat Rodeo) on pedal steel, Andy Burton (Tiny Lights,
The Schramms) on keyboards, & Boo Reiners (Demolition String
Band) on b-bender
