The Grip Weeds
The Sound In You
Rainbow Quartz
Released in July 2003, this
CD successfully merges ‘60s R&B-influenced rock with ‘90s Britpop
to create a modern sound with brilliant melodies and catchy hooks.
Nods to bands like The Beatles, The Who, The Byrds and Oasis come
through loud and clear – a fact they openly admit on their press
release. There’s also a bit of a post-mod/pre-hippie psychedelic
influence flowing throughout the album, giving it a smooth and sweet
texture. It’s not just a nostalgia trip though; the songs don’t
simply imitate bands of the past. The band takes inspiration from
the greats and develops uniquely well-crafted pieces that may leave
you tapping your feet and bobbing your head. - Andrew Ring
