THE GRIPWEEDS
The Sound Is In You
(Rainbow Quartz)
|
|
| |
|
| This record
will take some time to grow on its intended audience since The Gripweeds
sound somewhat slicker and smarter than most modern day garage rockers.
Its as if they were tinkering around with the same styles that
many pop bands in the 60s did, moving from the boy/girl melodramas
of the groin to the "what's it all about, then" posturing
of the mind. Happily, they're in that joyful infancy where they know
how to use a mellatron properly without turning the whole song into
overblown pomp. The Sound Is In You also includes covers of classics
by The Move ("I Can Hear The Grass Grow") and The Left Banke
("Lazy Day"). The Mouth |
